Week of Blessing

About this time last week, I felt God telling me to pull back. I was too busy doing scheduled activities. My schedule was way too planned. I talked to my boss and to my ministry partner at church and told them that I needed to pull back. When I did, I felt this huge burden lift from my shoulders.

This week I have made a point of seeking out what God wants me to do for each day. As I have, I am reminded that, when I look for God, His hand is everywhere. I will comment on my own post with stories of how God has been making Himself known this week. Feel free to jump in with your own stories of what you see God doing.

Monday was a blessed day. It started off with a nice time with God before work. I came into work and found out that we were short staffed again, leaving the usual gaps. But I found myself enjoying my day, anyway. My kids were relaxed and I was able to actually enjoy teaching them. Then, just as school was about to end, the fun started.

Kay, my boss, popped her head into Kindergarten while I was teaching to tell me that she just hired an after care director. Aaahhhh! (That is a good yell.) I knew that she was planning to hire some people, but I never dreamed that she would hire someone to take after care completely off of my plate. But it gets better. . ..

After class, I came up to the office to find 2 more new after care employees. Wow. I will need to do a fair amount of training in the next couple weeks, but then I will be free. Yes! Such an answer to prayer! But, it gets better. . .

I went to Naleo'okalani rehearsal. During our devotional time, I explained salvation to the kids from the angle of reconciliation with God. (Thanks to inspiration given at Kingdom Families.) We practiced soaking at our performing arts camp in July, so I reminded them before we prayed that communication with God is two way and to be sure to listen for God to speak while we are praying. One of my squirreliest boys spoke up after and said that his knee started hurting during prayer. I asked if any of the students had pain in their knee. Sure enough, one of them did. We prayed for her and saw her knee healed. It was great! I asked her, as she was leaving, if the pain was still gone and she said, "Oh, yeah." Very nonchalant, like, why should it hurt. :-)

Tuesday was also a great day. I felt led to change my lesson plans for one class. The teacher was a bit puzzled, at first, as things seemed much more unstructured than usual. I put on a Hillsongs Kids Worship DVD and let the kids dance.

I wasn't sure exactly why things were supposed to be changed up until partway through class. A boy who tends to be rather dark came up to me and said, "I am crazy. I am a crazyhead to my mom." There was something about that way he said them. It was like I could visibly see the hold those lies had on him. The lies were much bigger than the words he used to express them.

I knelt down and looked in his eyes and said, "Do you know what I see? I see a son of God. A mighty prince of the Kingdom. You are royalty."

This boy, who is normally running around, being disrespectful, etc., looked at me and paused, then he turned and walked back to his desk to sit down.

His teacher went up to him and said, "Don't you want to take advantage of this chance to get up and dance and worship Jesus?"

Still quiet, he looked at her then slowly began to clap. He had this confused look on his face the entire time. His teacher was floored. So was I. The change in this child was dramatic. Certainly worth the change in my lesson plans.

It is Wednesday and God is still making himself known.

I had a call to visit someone who had been homebound for a few months. Two of us went to pray for her. The prayer time went so well. God was generous with pictures and His presence was heavy in the room. When we left, she was feeling much better. We even tested a few things and found that those symptoms were already gone. Praise God!

Also today, a friend from work arranged an appointment for me to meet with someone for prayer. She didn't tell me anything about what was happening in this other persons life. We met and began to pray. Again, God was generous with His words. Not only did she feel that all of the things on her heart were covered in prayer, but she actually had a physical sensation of something leaving her and of God's presence coming. It was a powerful time.

Thank you God for letting me see you work!
