God has been prompting me to pray for His Kingdom to Come more regularly, and sometimes unexpectedly. This morning was a cool example.
I was getting ready for work and kept hearing this annoying beeping sound. It went on for like 10 minutes before I looked out the window to see the object of my irritation. I saw a city bus driver jumping on and kicking the handicap access ramp. Apparently, he had been trying - unsuccessfully - to get it to retract back into the bus.
First I chuckled at the situation. Then I was prompted to pray for God's Kingdom to come. I asked God to heal the bus and then to bless the driver and the people waiting outside. I won't bore you with the dialog, but I will tell you that as I was praying I heard the people cheer. The beeping stopped and the ramp had retracted into the bus.
You would have thought that someone regrew an arm with the way I danced across the room. :-) God is cool.

What has been on my heart is " As it was in the days of Noah so will
the coming of the son of man be." it strikes a little urgent cord in
me. I like your thought better Let your kingdom come now in the midst
of our situations in the midst of our everyday humdrum life. It is so
cool that you are so naturally supernatural...
Peace,
Stef
God rocks :) I had a special time with Him this morning too. i LOVE Him!!!! :) very cool.

Whoaaaa, both of those stories are CRAZY-cool!
Since this series is all about sharing what God's been saying, I hope you all don't mind if I jump on the bandwagon!
A few weeks ago, one of the guys at Nightlife suggested I read Ecclesiastes, so I tried to read it, but I didn't get past the first few chapters because I found it so DEPRESSING.
But before Sunday's service I heard the song "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas, and it reminded me of the little I had read from Ecclesiastes. I wrote "Dust in the Wind" on my hand to remind myself to get back to reading Ecc. Kieger saw it, said he had the lyrics, and was kind enough to send them to me-- thanks, Kieger. Then he asked what I thought "Dust in the Wind" means...
And I thought, How the heck would I know?
But this morning I finally got around to reading Ecc... and I'd like to share what I THINK it means to be dust in the wind:
Like the song says, we are just like "a drop of water in the endless sea." Everything under the sun IS meaningless, but there is joy to be found in this. As long as we are dust in the wind, as opposed to dust that sits on the TV or dust that gets sucked into a vacuum cleaner, then we are with God.. his spirit blows us with purpose.
"As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things." (Ecc 11:5)
I found this verse encouraging because I've been having serious doubts about where God might be calling me. But it was a reminder to trust Him.
And even though we might question the impact our actions have, and even though we don't know WHY we must do certain things God tells us to do-- we should do it anyway, enthusiastically and without worry, because God knows the meaning of our lives. "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where are you going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (Ecc 9:10) We're just dust, but because we're blown by God, we might as well be the most sparkly, allergy-free dust under the sun!
And we might as well have fun and be joyful, too. As Solomon says, "So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for people under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of their life God has given them under the sun." (Ecc 8:15)
Im not sure if God was pushing Ecc. because perhaps some of us feel like we're not making an impact as disciples, but I hope these verses encourage you like they did me!
Heehee, and I'm pretty sure that God really was pushing Ecc. because this afternoon, I was flipping through a book of poems by my favorite hip-hop/slam artist when I came across this:
"It was me, the ecclesiastical one, that pointed
out that there was nothing new under the sun.
And in times of laughter and times of tears, saw
that no times were real times, 'cause all times
were fear. The wise seer, Solomon, I am." ("The Dead Emcee Scrolls," Saul Williams)
See you guys on Sunday!

Hi,
Thanks for starting such a great dialog. :) What encouraging things to read today.
Rebecca
I love hearing all of this! I am SO glad to hear about how God is speaking to each of you. And I am one of those weirdos who enjoy Ecclesiastes. :-)
Keep listening. I can just picture God smiling over us. - jeannie
I am very encouraged by all of you!!! I'd like to share that I felt God say I should pray for my taiji teacher a couple of weeks ago. To my amazement, yesterday she prefaced our taiji lesson with a few words on how we should follow the Holy Spirit and then recited Psalm 23. Wow!!! Yes Lord, I will pray!
blessings to you all

First, for whatever reason I felt i should write.. chalk it up to obedience...But as I read all these things going back and forth,... I'm reminded at how sometimes I am trying too hard to hear and see God...that he is right there just next to me like a comforting security blanket. And that sometimes I just need to close my mouth, stop thinking too much and rest... just abide in him.
So tonight at worship practice, as we were going over a song.. I just felt the HS rain down on me in such a peaceful, reassuring way and it made me feel so very loved by Jesus! The song: Son of God, speaks these words:
Son of God, shaper of the stars. you alone, the dweller of my heart. mighty king, how beautiful you are, how beautiful. Song of God, the fathers gift to us. you alone, were broken on the altar of love. precious lamb, our freedoms in your blood, its in your blood.
(Jesus- oh holy one, I sing to you, forgiven. Savior, Im overcome, with your great love for me!)
Son of God, strength beyond compare. you alone, the darkness cannot bear. lord of love, your kindess draws me near. son of God, prophecy of old. you alone, redeemer of my soul. come again, and lead your people home- come lead us home.
--- you are worthy, worthy, you are worthy of all our praise, you are beautiful, you are beautiful, i will lift up my hands and sing--- Jesus-Oh holy one, I sing to you forgiven. savior, Im overcome, with your great love for me... with your great love for me.....
As I sang these words, I just felt like God himself was reminding me just how much he loves me and it doesnt matter what comes... he will be there drawing me unto himself and sheltering me.... showing me, leading me....as I left I was drawn towards the heavens to see a bright crescant moon illuminating in the night sky and again was reminded that my creator has made all things with such purpose and care that even a moon has details of beauty and nothing has been overlooked!
It all ties into the scripture I have been mulling over once again from 2 cor. 4:7-18. It nudges me to keep before me that He is my creator and molder, the shaper of my heart... my, jar of clay. that he is constantly refining me and making me more and more like himself. these past couple years have been some of the best, painful, rewarding refining I have encountered in my journey with Jesus. He has challenged and humbled me to be soooo much more than I ever dreamed possible.. I see things thru a different pair of glasses! When you ask the lord to make your heart like his, he doesnt mess around!
Anyhow, I hope these words bring you encouragement as it was intended and perhaps speak to something only the lord and you know about...saun
